When compared to Robot 64, or any other 3D platformer for that matter, the game becomes obsolete in its actions. However, I cannot merely sit here and analyze the game’s controls without administering proper criticism. In sum, sticking to the precedent was probably best for AF2 in retrospect. The game is far more simpler to understand than Robot 64, yet it’s constancy to the classic Roblox controls allows it to deviate creatively and innovate more upon typical Roblox tropes, and challenge those who are more experienced with Roblox parkour. Albeit, these controls are unarguably boring for a 3D platformer, they still fit the various build of Adventure Forward 2’s levels. In contrast to Robot 64, Adventure Forward 2 adheres to the default Roblox control set up: WASD to walk, space to jump, and shift lock to be a cool kid. Indubitably, the controls are Robot 64’s greatest triumph, and likely the most valuable contributor to Robot 64’s points in this comparison. The Underlined Line: Robot 64 has a control scheme that remained immaculate after inspection due to its freedom of movement and thrill within action. Robot 64 dominates that challenge while raising its ice cream flag under an agitated sun. ![]() The challenge of programming a platforming game that makes even simple movement stimulating is one for an abundance of developers, within and outside of Roblox. In fact, the game still had plenty more to show me, as I discovered that even an impromptu side somersault was possible when horsing around in the game’s hub during a replay. And having completed Super Mario 64 since that time, I can honestly claim that Robot 64 emulates it exceptionally, and even eclipses it due to the hardware advancements post the Nintendo 64. It wouldn’t surprise me if I’ve had to have spent at least an hour frolicking in the hub world when I was younger, trying new tricks and combos to achieve maximum heights or distances. ![]() Lastly, Robot 64 almost remasters its game of inspiration’s -Mario 64- philosophy of merely making moving the character fun. A play-trough of Robot 64 almost feels like free running in a sense, as it’s open nature encourages innovation over perfection, and creates a discernible feel of momentum. Henceforth, the player is encouraged to experiment and tinker with the controls, as complete familiarity can make even the more rigorous challenges a breeze. Effectively, the player is given numerous chances to recover upon failure if the proper control is inputted, as oftentimes quick thinking on a dive, hover, or even a wall run will prove reliable in risky situations. In addition, while the level design will be brought up in a future segment, it should be noted that the controls have been designed to work cohesively with each course. In essence, skilled players will be able to create patterns to traverse larger distances more efficiently, making this game wonderful to speedrun. And while this may originally appear as an overbearing amalgamation, Robot 64 is able to manage this influx by allowing each one to flow with one another. Upon initial inspection, the controls posses all of the necessary rudiments of a 3D platformer: long jumps, double jumps, hovering, somersaults, ground pounds, and dives. So, as the classic Nate saying goes, now that everything is out of the way, let’s get right into the analytical festivities!ĭynamic, fluid, and instantaneous, one can certainly make an argument that Robot 64 is the champion of controls within the entirety of Roblox. Be on the lookout for Part 2 hopefully sometime in the coming week! However, for the sake of not overcompensating on a blog, this comparison will be split into duel parts. In the end, one game will reign supreme with a higher score, and be deemed as the objectively better creation. ![]() ![]() Through critical analysis and impartial contractions, I will administer each game a score of 10 in these categories: story, visuals, controls, level design, soundtrack, and their respective post games. In fact, Adventure Forward 2 is indeed the game I am most partial towards on the Roblox platform, with Robot 64 definitely being amongst the top 5.īut today, I will make strenuous effort to put nostalgia aside, and decide which one of these Roblox masterpieces trumps the other. And due that said genre certainly being one of my personal favorites, both of these developments naturally attracted me for hours of entertainment and multiple play-throughs. Robot 64 and Adventure Forward 2 are undeniably amongst the most prestigious 3D Platformers on Roblox, each being a significant part of that genre’s history on the site. Hey guys, Nate here, and today we are going to be analyzing a pair of games in which my sentiment is rooted deeply.
